Loppers
Depending on the specification, some anvil loppers can be used to cut branches and dead wood up to diameters as large as 50mm (2 inches). They have a single straight blade that presses against the anvil. Ample leverage is provided by the long handles, but when cutting larger diameter branches this can be enhanced if the lopper is fitted with telescopic handles or a blade ratcheting mechanism. All have hardened and tempered carbon steel blades, and most have soft grip handles for comfort.
